The Pluto Compressor Station project is located in Dampier, Western Australia, near some of the largest LNG Processing Trains in the world. The intent of this facility was to allow bidirectional flow of gas from the DBNGP and Pluto LNG plant.

The project involved construction and installation of a complete compressor station including gas engine driven reciprocating compressor package, aftercooler, inlet scrubber and filter, fuel gas system, control room, store, GEA and back up DEA within the confines of the gas pipeline easement boundary on the side of a rock based hill. The client undertook all civil, earthworks and concrete construction scopes prior to mobilisation to site by the Alltype Engineering team.

Prior to mobilisation, Alltype Engineering prepared all project and construction management documentation, participated in construction HAZID and safety workshops and ensured availability and VOC of all trades destined for site.

Free issued pressure retaining components and piping were workshop fabricated, NDT tested, hydrotested and surface treated prior to delivery to site with full traceability and NATA certification. Associated scopes of supply included structural steel fabrication for pipe supports, access platforms, ladders and stairs and the compressor shelter structure – all manufactured and galvanised to suit cyclonic conditions of the North West Shelf. The control room was fitted out as far as practical offsite prior to delivery to site to minimise onsite works.

Prior to the piping delivery, the multidiscipline site team undertook early works including fabrication and installation of high pressure bypass facilities piping complete with supports during a planned shutdown to allow future tie in works, metering skid modifications and uninterrupted gas flow to the end users. The shutdown, including E&I works, was completed well within the allotted time frame and allowed early commissioning.

The multidiscipline site team mobilised and established site, installing the key mechanical equipment being the packaged gas compressor, vessels, tanks, GEA and DEA, control room as well as fabricated structure and piping. The E&I team completed the earthing connections, power and instrument cable infrastructure and cabling and all pre-commissioning works in parallel to the SMP team. Complex mechanical scopes including levelling and alignment works, epoxy grout installation and specialist vendor support activities were also accommodated on a tight and busy site.

Alltype Engineering was proud to deliver the project safely, on schedule and budget to a high quality standard and demonstrate the turnkey contractor capability of the group.
